Consortium structure and expertise: The figure shows the main structure, expertise of the partners (1^st level) and the key expertise provided to BACI (2^nd level) toward BACI´s goals. Interactions emerge from common expertise elements such that synergies are guaranteed towards the expected products (3^rd level). The expertise overlaps amongst partners is intended maximise trans-disciplinary approaches.

BACI´s consortium consists of terrestrial remote sensing experts (with complementary backgrounds and qualifications), experts in ecosystem and biodiversity ground observations of different types, experts on machine learning big data processing, and experts on applications of innovative methods in biogeochemistry, terrestrial ecosystem modelling, biodiversity monitoring and modelling, and in socio-ecological change assessments.

• Prof. Anja Rammig, Professor for Land Surface-Atmosphere Interactions, Technical University of Munich.
• Forest Research Institute, executing the LIFE+ ForBioSensing project (LIFE13 ENV/PL/000048), which aims to develop a methodology that will enable monitoring changes in tree stands of the Białowieża Forest using the latest available remote sensing methods such as laser scanning, aerial hyperspectral imagery, hemispherical photography as well as ground reference measurements (including dendrometer measurements and dendrochronological analysis). • Prof. Gustau Camps-Valls, on of the leading machine learning experts on exploring remote sensing data of a vriety of sources from the Universitat de València.
• Prof. Prof. Henrique M. Pereira, biodiversity expert from the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig and Chairman of GEO BON.
• Sybil Seitzinger, Executive Director of the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, and international leader in investigating the causes and consequences of environmental change.
